Resistance Band Exercises

TAKE THE GYM WITH YOU

Resistance band exercises and superbands are important to your fitness and athletic performance training because they strengthen your muscles where they are the weakest, which is at the top range of movement. As explained below, superbands and resistance band exercises utilize ascending resistance, or increase resistance as they stretch. Training or lifting with free-weights alone only provide constant levels of resistance. Training with Superbands and resistance bands provide variable resistance, allowing you to achieve peak performance levels beyond any free-weight or machine training. Resistance band exercises are also known as flat band, super band, strength band, or latex band exercises.

Garage Gym and Home Gym

Just as athletes have known for years, superbands and resistance bands deliver high-performance and effective total body strength training, as well as reducing injuries for home fitness enthusiasts, garage gym, home gym, weekend warriors, and anyone else looking to improve their fitness and performance.

Over 90% of Sports Related Injuries

Train with Superbands to improve stability, in both joints and core. Over 90% of sports related injuries occur when our limbs are extended away from the center of our body. Virtually every sport or physical activity requires that an athlete extend their limbs or challenge their core to where they are putting themselves in a position to potentially suffer an injury without proper training and precautions. Training with variable resistance and all planes will expose the athlete to training that will help prevent injuries and elevate performance well beyond simple free-weight or constant resistance work outs.

ASCENDING RESISTANCE

Superbands and resistance bands produce ascending resistance. Ascending resistance is achieved the further the superband is stretched. This variable resistance conditions your body to both accelerate and decelerate, which will help prevent injuries.

Accelerate and Decelerate

Athletes and coaches find it valuable to train with superbands while athletes see how often they must accelerate or decelerate (speed up or slow down) while training, participating in competitive sports or other activities. The quick acceleration and deceleration mimicked while training with superbands, conditions athletes and supports the prevention of injuries, as a reaction.

Mimic Athletic Movements

Superbands give you the flexibility to train as an athlete, to mimic athletic movements such as; jumping, running, throwing, hitting and shuffling. From a standing position, superbands provide the opportunity to perform basic movements like pushing or pressing, and pulling. For aging adulst as a result; if you train with superbands, you can improve your balance and reduce your risk of falling.

Natural Movements with Superbands

Superbands allow the user to manipulate the movements, to use natural paths and directions that are relative to their exercise and activity. Free-weights do not allow this free movement as they are controlled with gravity and typically only allow a bi-directional movement.

Resistance Levels

Superbands and resistance bands are available in a wide variety of resistance levels. Resistance is controlled by the width and thickness of each band, with more width and thickness providing a higher level of resistance. Most superbands can be found ranging from 12 lbs. to 140 lbs. of resistance. Superbands and resistance bands produce more resistance the more they are stretched or the further the anchor point and movement are from each other. Resistance levels are easy to change or achieve by simply switching or adding superbands to your movement. Additionally, increased resistance can be achieved many times by simply shortening the band length.

Colors -  Trade Dress

There isn’t a trade dress or color pattern for superbands as there is with resistance bands and/or tubing. You will find superbands in a variety of colors for every resistance level. Many company have chosen their own color scheme. You will simply need to read the description or specifications on each of the superbands or resistance bands when purchasing. There should be a beginning and ending resistance level measured in pounds. Keeping in mind that the highest number of the range is only achieved when the band has reached the apex.

Variety of Superbands and Resistance Bands

A variety of resistance levels is important, so you should make your purchases accordingly. Having fewer choices in superbands is like having low range weights of dumbbells and only a few heavy choices available for training. It doesn’t allow you to graduate as needed between resistance levels. This may cause you or your athletes to make choices they are not ready or comfortable with.

Mobile and Safe

Superbands are flat and continuous bands made from lightweight and super flexible latex, making them one of the most easily stored, packed and transportable training tool available today. Athletes can enjoy unlimited and variable resistance training most any place, with or without a weight room or gym. Your weight room is where you are.

Anchored and Free Style Superband Training

There are two basic types of superband and resistance band training. The first is anchored, where the user or athlete would anchor the superband or resistance band to a fixed point and either push or pull from that fixed point. The second type of training is free-style or un-anchored training. A user or athlete would use their body weight to stand on a band, producing an organic anchor point to push or pull from. An athlete may also wrap the band around their back, leg or other body part to create a fulcrum and allow a push or pull movement.
